Becoming a Web Hosting Reseller

Want to make money in the web hosting industry? The best way to start a web hosting business (if you a re a beginner) is by getting a reseller account with an established web hosting company.

For the Beginner, you really don't want to start spending a lot of money on getting your business off the ground and you dont have a lot of time to learn everything about the business. Web hosting companies have made it very easy for you to start your own web hosting company. They ususally will have a couple of different plans to choose from, either a very simple plan where you would just sell their existing plans, while they give you a discount or a more advanced plan where you will be a Private Label Reseller. This means that your customers will never know that you are a reseller. It's perfect! They host you customers, handle all the server aspects of it, you just have to handle your customers and run the business. Let the web hosting companies worry about your server, downtime, etc. You can concentrate on getting more people to your site and selling plans. Also, you can make up your own plans if you want, this way you have full control over the plan features and pricing. Some web hosting companies even handle support calls for you. If they do not, there are a few companies that you can outsource your support and sales calls to. Your web hosting company should be happy to send you to the right place.

The Basics of Website Promotion

Website promotion is, quite simply, the process of getting the word out about your site. Like any kind of marketing or promotional effort, website promotion requires planning and strategy.

Where to Start

Before jumping headfirst into site promotion (and, perhaps, even before building your site), you’ll want to think carefully about your target market and your site’s purpose. Who do you want to visit your site? What do you want those visitors to do when they get there? With so much information out there, and so many means available for website promotion, it’s tempting to dive in without testing the waters. Just as with more traditional forms of spreading the word, though, you want to figure out what you have to offer, and who will be most interested. Promotion should focus on bringing those visitors to your site who want or need whatever it is you have to offer.

Build A Web Site - Build A Great One - The Easy Way

If I can do it, anyone can!

Before I put together my own web sites, I didn't have any internet experience and the thought of having to learn a new language called "HTML" sent chills up my spine.

Doing Nothing Is A Sure Way To Fail

But I knew that if I just sat there and let my fear of the unknown keep me from going forward, I'd never see my dream come to life.

Building Websites with Directory Generator

Directory Generator, a product from Armand Morin and Marc Quarles, builds directory-style websites for you in a matter of minutes. It is simple to use, it's reliable, it does what it claims to do. The tool is essentially a push-button site builder - all you really have to do is upload the generated pages to your host system. There are no fancy technical skills involved.

Directory Generator gives you control over the finished product in a number of ways, one of which is that you can put a "classified"-style ad on each page. As I alluded to above, there is a form in Directory Generator that lets you paste your Adsense code into it, and out come your Adsense ads on your site. You can even control the approach to your file directory structure on your host i.e. put all your generated pages in the root, or in a sub-folder that you name.

Building Ecommerce Web Sites: Where Do I Start?

Building a web site isn't something that is really cut and dry. There's a huge variety of products and services that can either help you get your web site where you want it or simply confuse you. It's also important that you make the right choices upfront so that you don't end up having to restructure your whole web site because of some problem in your design layout. The level of time investment neccessary for mastery in a lot of these software packages can range from little to a VERY significant amount. Because of this I feel it's important to be lead in the "right" direction to make sure you don't spend time in the wrong areas, or learning some software that might not be all that useful for you later on (*coughs* Frontpage *coughs*).

Anyone Can Build a Web Site!

There are many levels of computer "savvy"

I'd like to think I am quite experienced, but actually, considering the vast knowledge that I have never been trained in, I'd have to consider myself to be just above the beginner level. I know how to navigate, but I am untrained on the technical science of the World Wide Web. Although I have spent thousands of hours in front of my keyboard and monitor, searching, absorbing and creating, I still have no scholarly knowledge of HTML (hyper text markup language), or things like CGI, Perl, Java script, or other computer programming languages. All I know is that I love to build and design websites, and I love the idea of all of this vast knowledge, available at my fingertips.

The Big Secret of Fabulous and Mediocre Web Site Hosting Companies

Most web site hosting services like the one you're probably using right now, provide you with space on which you can host your web site. These mediocre web site hosting companies will even help you set up your own email addresses and provide you with the ability to run your own scripts and programs.

Some of the better ones out here will even let you use a nice Eye Candy control panel to help you manage your site. If your lucky they'll even throw in a website statistics app as well. For most web site hosting companies that's about it! Most web site hosting services won't bother giving you more service for you money.

Internet Marketing -The 7 Biggest Mistakes I See People Make With Their Websites!

Many people are not getting good or complete advice. Often for example people don't understand all the concepts of Internet Marketing and having a website so they simply pay to have a website developed. Often this website may look good but it falls far short in the area of being "search engine friendly". This is typically because many businesses that deal with the web are very one track focused.

Achieve a better website by avoiding these 10 basic mistakes

Ever since I started doing free website reviews, there have been some common elements where many of the websites miss the mark. Usually this is because webmasters forget to recognise that websites are a multi-faceted thing - a bit like an onion – with layer on layer of interdependent elements. If you miss an element, then the integrity of the site is put at risk.

A cgi script that allows you to run commands on your server, even if your web host won't give you telnet access. Also good for getting at files generated by other scripts that are owned by user 'nobody', instead of your username. Ever tried deleting them? Well, now you can.

The benefits of having a web site

When you’re searching through the Internet you will find endless amounts of information, about everything, and all at your fingertips. The Internet is the largest source of knowledge in the world. Why is this? Because anyone can get their information on there. All you need is a web site and a resource generous web hosting company.

Many people think that getting their website on the Internet is an expensive venture, fortunately though, this need not necessarily be true; if you find the right web host, the benefits of having a web site will definitely outweigh the costs.

There are many different ways to benefit from having a web site, whether it is for personal gain, or to aid your business success. Those who have their own personal websites generally use them to further an interest or a hobby; having a site is a great way to share and exchange knowledge with others. Businesses on the other hand use a website to promote and market their goods and services, while cutting back on such expenses as postage, couriers and advertising, etc.

Basics of web hosting and what to look for

After deciding that you are going to have a website, you need two things, a domain name and a company to host it for you. Domain names are fairly cheap, you can go to www.godaddy.com where they sell them for $9.00 a year or sometimes, the web host provider will either sell them or give it to you with their plan.

The web hosting company is basically renting you space on their web servers. Whatever your website will be, a web hosting company will let anyone in the world view your site.

What To Look For

When shopping for a Web host, a couple of things you want to keep in mind: How fast are their servers, do they have good support and how is their uptime (meaning, how good are they at keeping your website up and running).

The Basics of Starting Your Own Website

You will note from the title that this article is for the beginners. The very first thing to consider is what kind of software you will use. I admit, my personal favorite is Microsoft FrontPage. It is what is known as a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) web site editor. It enables webmasters to create websites without knowing any HTML. Those of you who write HTML code like a second language will probably not care for it very much. The latest version, FrontPage 2003, has great improvements from the older versions, like the split screen which allows you to see the HTML code as you edit. Even if you don't write your own code, the more familiar you are with HTML, the better off you will be. FrontPage 2003 also lets you do a find and replace over your entire site. So if you made a mistake or want to change a link that is on all one thousand pages of your site, all you have to do is find the code and do a mass replace. Microsoft offers a 30 day trial CD if you would like to try it for free. Another cool web page editor, Macromedia's Dreamweaver, can be downloaded and used on a trial basis at Macromedia.com.

Avoiding "Bad" Web Hosts

The Internet represents the most powerful communication revolution since the dawn of mankind.

Its communication power can literally create business empires faster and with less startup capital than in all human history.

Yet, with all this power at their fingertips, it amazes me that most businesses and entrepreneurs will put their business in jeopardy just to save a couple of bucks.

Would you build a luxury home on a foundation made for a double-wide trailer?

Would you mount a race car body and engine on a chassis built for a go-cart?

If not, then why would you try to build a legitimate online business to support your family and contribute to your livelihood using $4 a month hosting?

ASP Web hosting

ASP web hosting refers to web hosting companies who provide support for ASP (Active Server Page). If you want a dynamic data-driven web site you may wish to embed ASP code into your web site’s HTML Pages. When a user is viewing a web site that is developed using ASP, the pages can change depending on the actions of the user. ASP code allows you to link your web pages to a database, where users can interact with the webpage by logging in and using their own personal settings or they can interactively place orders on your web site.

How to Analyze Your Web Site Traffic (Part 3)

Web Traffic Analysis Software

These are programs that analyze your server logs and then create traffic reports accordingly. The quality of the reports generated will depend on what software you actually use. Some log analyzers are free and come preinstalled on many hosting accounts, while others can cost a good deal of money.

How to Analyze Your Web Site Traffic (Part 2)

1. Counters – these are heavily used on web sites by newbies but appear unprofessional. It is very common to go to a page and see something like "You are visitor number 12345 to this page". These numbers cannot be trusted as the page designer has the ability to seed the base number or to alter the counter such that it adds more than 1 each time.

How to Analyze Your Web Site Traffic

Getting traffic to your web site without analyzing it, is like being blindfolded in a crowd. You hear voices, but you don’t know which direction they are coming from or who they are. Without analyzing your web site traffic, it’s difficult to improve your web site marketing.

All Web Hosts Are Not Created Equal

There are literally thousands of web hosting providers offering hundreds of solutions for businesses owners worldwide. However, choosing the right web hosting provider and having a clear understanding of what level of service your business requires can be a daunting task. Many people think that all web hosts offer the same level of service within a certain price point. This could not be further from the truth. Fundamentally web hosting is web hosting but when you compare apples to apples you will find a broad range of differences that may or may not be a detriment to your business. Surprisingly the same web host provider that charges $5/month may have a direct competitor that charges $10/month for a comparable service plan. Below are 3 simple steps to help you determine what provider will best fit for your needs and where to find them.
